Sonya Deol, MSW, RSW
I remember being in a place not too long ago where life felt so overwhelming and exhausting. Reaching out for support made me feel vulnerable, but a part of me knew it was necessary. Therapy helped me feel less alone in my pain and taught me to be kind to myself. I learned that the anxiety I live with is a response to childhood trauma and that there is so much more to me as a person. My journey of healing continues as I make an ongoing effort to be more mindful of the things that matter to me - the values that I have the power to choose.
As a therapist, I want to encourage others to reach out and experience the benefits of therapy. My therapeutic style centres on care and understanding. My hope is to help you become more aware of your pain and how you relate to it, so you no longer feel trapped by it but instead feel empowered to live a meaningful life.
I believe we all have the inner strength to find our own answers. Difficult life experiences can make us feel disconnected to this part of ourselves. Approaching your past and present experiences with openness and curiosity will allow you to explore them with different perspectives. With your collaboration, I will guide you in how to find and reconnect with your truest, most authentic self.
Throughout my social work career, I have worked with individuals in the areas of anxiety, depression, stress, relationship issues, grief/loss, violence, crisis intervention, and trauma. I am especially passionate about the impact of trauma on mental health and how to heal from it.

With care,
Sonya
