Sonya Deol, MSW, RSW
My interest in mental health started long before my professional training. I know what it's like to grow up adapting to other people's emotions and to lose touch with your own.

My own experience of reconnecting with my body is part of why I believe so strongly in somatic therapy alongside talking.

And I think the therapist's nervous system matters, too.

Therapists bring their own histories into the room. I've had to learn how to stay grounded, connect with someone's pain without becoming overwhelmed by it, and offer a steady presence when things get difficult.

For me, that matters as much as the techniques we use.

I believe in your inner strength to find answers. Life's challenges can disconnect us from that part of ourselves, but with openness and curiosity, we can explore our experiences from new perspectives.

Throughout my social work career, I have supported individuals facing anxiety/depression, stress, relationship issues, grief/loss, violence, crisis intervention, and complex trauma. My passion lies in understanding how painful experiences show up in the mind and body, and the uniqueness of each individual's healing process. That is the art of wisdom.
